MACHINE CONTROL PLANNING AND MODELLING

Modern earthworking machines, for example excavators, can use 3D models that enable the operator to work independently and always follow the latest plans in use. The 3D models are based on the building information models made of the construction site.

The building information model, also called BIM, is made by the planner. It is a virtual plan of the construction site that contains all the necessary information about the site. A 3D model for machine control also requires the correct data format prescribed by the machine manufacturers so that the file format is right for the machine or equipment that is used. Some of the most common manufacturers include Novatron, Topcon, Leica, and Trimble.

To build a high-quality machine control model, we need the BIMs and plans to use as the basis for the final model. The necessary source data includes both the machine file format that the client or contractor will use as well as the source data generated by planners for making the machine control models.

In addition to machine control models, we make as-built documentation based on the as-built measurements taken by the machines at the site, and we also calculate volumes based on this data.
